Stone History

Variscite

Variscite is a mineral named after the English mineralogist William Wavell Variscan, who first described it in the 1830s. This mineral usually forms in green or green-yellow crystals and is often found in fossilized formations.

The main deposits of variscite are located in the USA, UK, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. It can be found in granite, gneiss, and schist, forming as a result of hydrothermal activity.

Variscite is often used in jewelry and ornament creation, although its use is limited due to its low hardness. It can also be used in scientific research as an indicator mineral to understand the conditions under which rocks form.

Zodiac

Variscite is associated with several zodiac signs depending on the properties and energies it is believed to enhance. It may be especially beneficial for Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces, who seek emotional stability and well-being.

As it resonates with heart chakra energy, it may also be suitable for Taurus, Libra, and Aquarius, helping in the development of love, compassion, and harmony.

However, choosing a stone should not depend solely on your zodiac sign. Personal needs and goals should also be considered.

Element

Variscite is typically associated with the Earth element, reflecting its formation and energetic qualities. Earth symbolizes stability, reliability, fertility, and grounding—all traits embodied by variscite.

Planet

In esoteric and astrological practices, many stones are linked to planetary energies. However, variscite does not have a clearly defined planetary association due to its lesser-known status. Its energy is more fluid and adaptable.

Colors

Variscite commonly exhibits greenish-yellow or green hues, sometimes with shades of white or beige. Its coloration may vary depending on impurities and formation conditions, with some samples being deep green and others pale or mixed with additional tones.

Chakra

Variscite strongly influences the Heart Chakra (Anahata), located in the chest. This chakra is associated with love, compassion, empathy, openness, and harmony.
