Red candles are a symbol of passion, strength, health, sexuality, and life energy. This color is associated with the element of Fire and the planet Mars.
Since red corresponds to the element of fire, such a candle is considered a very powerful tool because it amplifies the energy contained in the flame many times over.
To attract passion and love, to boost courage and willpower
To increase sexual desire
In healing rituals when you need to restore physical health or enhance life energy
To gain strength in achieving a goal
For protection against physical and mental attacks
In rituals to find a life partner
In rituals to attract the power of the gods
To achieve victory over competitors
It is also beneficial to befriend red candles:
For men: they enhance masculinity, increase personal attractiveness, and draw the opposite sex.
For women: they boost sexuality, attractiveness, and add self-confidence.
A red candle is suitable for working with the 1st root chakra — Muladhara — and Kundalini energy.
Rub the candle with oil. Rubbing upwards (from bottom to top) is for banishing what you don’t want, like fear, helplessness, etc. Rubbing downwards (from top to bottom) is for attracting what you truly desire, such as courage, sexuality, etc. Any oil will work — essential oil, jojoba oil, or any oil you have on hand.
Hold the candle and say out loud what you want to gain. For example: “I want to be more confident” or “I want a passionate sex life.” Visualize your ideal result, then light the candle.
A red candle can be used any day, but it is especially powerful during the waxing moon on even lunar days: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12. For attracting sexual energy, the 24th lunar day is the most effective.
To attract your ideal lover, make a list of qualities this person should have and write them on a piece of paper. Fold the paper and place it under the candle.
Important: If you are trying to attract a specific person, write their name on the candle.
Next, anoint the top of the candle with a few drops of oil. Here are a few options depending on your intention:
Desire Me Oil awakens passion (strengthens existing bonds or attracts new love).
Come to Me Oil is very powerful — it ties your lover to you.
Rose oil is a traditional ingredient for various love spells.
You can light the prepared red candle at any time, but it works best on a Friday during the waxing moon. Let the candle burn down completely. Bury the remains near your home or by your front door.
Anoint a red candle with a few drops of protective oil. Light the candle. Stand before it, feeling its warm glow and the aroma of the oil. Close your eyes and imagine yourself surrounded by a wall of fire. This fire, keeping you safe, will burn away any negative energy or evil intentions directed at you.
Then say:
Bright fire,
Warm fire,
Fire, protect me from all harm.
Warm fire,
Bright fire,
Fire, guard me with all your might.
Extinguish the candle. Anoint it with a fresh drop of oil and light it again whenever you feel the need to repeat the ritual.
The ideal time for this ritual is Tuesday during the waxing moon.
Take a red candle and anoint it with three drops of cedar oil. Rub it in clockwise.
Light the candle while meditating on your personal and life force. Imagine tendrils of energy rising from the earth to bring you strength. If you have a gemstone (especially carnelian), place it in front of the candle so the flame shines on it.
Repeat words of power. This can simply be “energy, strength, life force, power” or your own personal chant for physical energy that comes from your soul.
When you feel a surge of strength, extinguish the candle and set it aside for later use. Carry the stone with you and touch it whenever you need an energy boost. Regularly repeat your spell to maintain its power.
One simple way to heal and cleanse the root chakra is to wear and work with the color red.
For example, you can light a red candle during a chakra meditation, visualizing Muladhara as a spinning red wheel located at the base of your pelvis. Imagine this chakra filling with healing red light that charges and opens it.
It’s great if during this practice you also anoint the candle or your pulse points with sandalwood or ylang-ylang oil and inhale the scent.
While the candle is burning, observe its aura — the shapes the flame takes as it moves. This will help you know if the ritual is working.
If the flame is tall — the ritual is successful.
If you hear crackling or hissing — it may mean that someone from the other side is trying to contact you. Notice which words are followed by pops and crackles — try to interpret them.
If the candle refuses to light — negative forces may be interfering. Try again a bit later.
