Moldavite is a unique and rare mineral formed from a meteorite impact. It is a natural glass created about 15 million years ago when a meteorite struck the region of modern-day Třebíč, Czech Republic. The impact melted terrestrial material, which was then ejected and cooled, forming what we now know as moldavite.
In folklore, moldavite was regarded as the “Stone of the Gods” and used as a talisman for protection and good luck. Some historical sources link it to ancient Slavic rituals and spiritual practices.
Moldavite resonates most strongly with the signs Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces:
Cancer – Enhances emotional depth, intuition, and subconscious connection.
Scorpio – Supports transformation and helps uncover inner truths and desires.
Pisces – Aids in spiritual development and self-expression, opening new spiritual pathways.
Moldavite is connected to the Air element, aligning with intellectual clarity, spiritual insight, and lightness of being.
The planetary ruler of moldavite is Uranus, representing transformation, innovation, and liberation. Moldavite carries Uranus’s energy, assisting with major life changes, breakthroughs, and spiritual awakening.
Dark green – The most common moldavite shade, ranging from mossy to deep forest green.
Light green – A translucent, airy tone giving the stone a luminous quality.
Brownish-green – Less common, often with golden or earthy undertones.
Blue-green – Extremely rare and prized among collectors.
These natural hues enhance moldavite’s visual and energetic appeal in jewelry and spiritual work.
Moldavite primarily activates the Heart Chakra (Anahata) and the Crown Chakra (Sahasrara). It opens the heart to unconditional love and higher wisdom while connecting the mind to higher realms and cosmic energy.

Note: While moldavite is cherished in crystal healing, it should not replace medical treatment.
The most significant source of moldavite is in the Czech Republic, particularly along the Vltava River (Moldau), from which the stone’s name is derived.
Other locations include:
Germany – Minor finds, especially in Bavaria.
Austria – Known deposits in the eastern regions.
Slovakia – Occasional finds in select locations.
Despite minor deposits elsewhere, Czech moldavite remains the most prized for its clarity, structure, and rich green color.
