Stone History

Rhodonite

Rhodonite is a beautiful pink mineral widely used in jewelry and decorative arts. The name "rhodonite" comes from the Greek word rhodon, meaning "rose," reflecting its signature pink hue.

In ancient Greece and Rome, rhodonite was used for jewelry and protective amulets. During the Middle Ages and Renaissance, it became popular in Europe for religious artifacts and ornamental purposes, symbolizing love and devotion. In the 19th and 20th centuries, rhodonite gained recognition in Russia, especially from the Ural Mountains, where it was used to create jewelry, vases, tabletops, and export goods. Today, it remains a beloved stone for both its aesthetic and metaphysical qualities.
